I first discovered mindfulness in 2020 during the pandemic, when I was searching for free and reliable ways to reduce stress That was when I came across the Palouse Mindfulness program. From the very first teaching video, I was deeply touched—It helped me realize that what troubled me was not life itself, but the way I looked at it.

Through the course materials, I gradually became more aware of my self-critical voice and began to practice offering myself unconditional acceptance and love kindness. At first, I didn’t complete every exercise and only meditated when I felt anxious, but the seeds of mindfulness had already been planted.

Later, I discovered the Palouse weekly community meetings, which brought even more change Each week, I met people who shared sincerely and accepted one another without judgment. I felt less alone, and a deep sense of gratitude and compassion toward the world grew within me.

In November 2024, I restarted the 8-week course and, for the first time, completed every exercise patiently and without rushing. By May 2025, I had finished the program, established a daily meditation practice, and began to bring mindfulness into every moment of my life.

As a non-native English speaker, I sometimes experienced language barriers during guided meditations and group discussions. When Palouse launched the Chinese meditation group in 2024, I was deeply grateful and delighted meeting Mandarin-speaking friends from around the world and practicing together has been both meaningful and joyful.

我在 2020 年疫情期间第一次接触到冥想。当时我正在寻找免费的、可靠的减压方法,偶然发现了 Palouse Mindfulness 项目。当我观看第一个教学视频时就被深深打动——它让我意识到,困扰我的并不是生活本身,而是我看待生活的方式。

通过学习这些课程,我逐渐觉察到内心自我批评的声音,并尝试给予自己无条件的接纳与关爱。虽然一开始我没有完成所有练习,也只是焦虑时才会冥想,但觉察和冥想的种子已经在我心中埋下。

后来,我发现了 Palouse 的每周线上会议,这带来了更多改变。在这里,我遇见了真诚分享、彼此接纳的伙伴们,感受到自己并不孤单,也对世界生出了更多感激与慈悲。

2024 年 11 月,我重新开始八周课程,这一次我耐心完成了每一项练习。这是我第一次不急不躁、慢慢走完的学习旅程!到 2025 年 5 月,我顺利完成课程,并建立了每日冥想的习惯,将正念带入生活的每一刻。

作为非英语母语者,我有时在引导冥想或小组交流中会遇到语言的障碍。2024 年 Palouse 开始中文冥想小组时,我非常感激和惊喜。在这里,我遇见了来自世界各地的华语朋友,大家一起冥想、交流,这种体验奇妙而温暖。
