Other Languages

For languages which are represented by a flag in the upper-left corner of this page, there is a version of the Palouse Mindfulness course which has been carefully translated by Palouse Mindfulness graduates who are native speakers of that language. All of the core readings, worksheets, subtitles for videos, and audio recordings are included. By clicking on the row of flags, you will be given an option to go to one of these translated versions.

For other languages, Google's automatic translation tool can be used, and although it is amazing in many respects, it is not perfect, especially considering that the concepts presented in a mindfulness course are subtle and present a challenge even for experienced human translators. That being said, if you would like to use Google Translate, instructions are below.

For web pages:

If you are using Google's Chrome browser, a "right click" anywhere on the page will give you the option of translating to your default language, and for some other browsers, there will be a pop-up window giving you that option. If you are using a browser that does not have this option built-in, go to Google Translate and enter the address of the page, or the address for the entire site, https://palousemindfulness.com/

For articles in "Reading":

Copy the address of the page and go to Google Translate and paste the address of the page into the left-hand box.

For videos in the "Video" section:

On a desktop computer, in the lower right corner of the YouTube screen, you will see controls like those in the illustration to the left. If subtitles have already been translated into your language, it's pretty simple (you stop at step 3), but otherwise, steps 4-7 are needed::

   (1) Click on settings ("gear" icon, second icon from the left)
   (2) Click on "Subtitles/CC"
   (3) If you see your language, this means a human being translated the subtitles. In this case, select it and you're done.

If you don't see your language, the following steps will generate subtitles in your language from the English subtitles, but like any automatically-generated translation, the subtitles will not be perfect:

   (4) Click on "Auto-translate".
   (5) Scroll to find your language and click on it
