New Interface for Palouse Mindfulness

The Palouse Mindfulness website underwent a redesign in October 2024 which incorporated four major changes:

  1. We've made the website is more accessible for people who are blind or sight-impaired:

Previously, the website was almost completely unusable for someone who needs to use a screen-reader such as JAWS or NVDA or VoiceOver. A screen-reader reads the displayed text aloud and provides ways to navigate the pages and website without reference to images or text on the screen. A recent survey of the top 1 million websites shows that less than 5% of websites are fully accessible for blind or sight-impaired users!

  2. We have redesigned the menus in an effort to make navigation more intuitive and easier to use:

Each of the main menu items, accessible through the top navigation bar, when clicked, lists the pages in that category as well as an "overview" page which gives a brief overview of each of the pages in that section.

  3. We've created a new "Going Deeper" category:

This category includes "Graduate Explorations", a collection of 20 modules designed for graduates and others who want to deepen their knowledge about mindfulness topics beyond the 8-week MBSR course experience. The contents include materials that we had put on the "Graduates" page, but now consolidated and reorganized (including over 120 videos and articles!). Each module has a video-recording of a past in-person graduate meeting held here in Idaho, as well as other videos and readings, organized much like the Palouse Mindfulness "weeks". Taken together, the "Graduate Exploration" section provides more material than in the entire 8-week Palouse Mindfulness course.

  4. We've added a new "About Us" category which highlights Our Team:

We finally have a place to highlight the dedicated team members who freely give their time and share their gifts in support of Palouse Mindfulness's mission to make mindfulness available to everyone, regardless of financial or geographical limitations.
