The question of meaning has always been at the heart of my life's journey. The answer was - I thought - in medicine, opening windows onto human suffering and the pain of bodies, discovering the importance of care. But also its limits. A chronic illness and a move to the United States (I'm French) changed my trajectory.

The occasional yoga practice I'd had for years became a challenge, but it created the space I needed to discover meditation and mindfulness: my first life-changing spiritual birth. I was ready! From one day to the next, I became a daily practitioner, devoting myself to a silent, informal practice on my own while exploring everything that was being accessible on the subject, eager to absorb it all: books, seminars, teachings. I also returned to the practice of full presence in movement through yoga, qigong and tai chi.

Along the way, like you, I discovered Palouse Mindfulness and the jewel of self-compassion hidden in Week 7 which, I knew immediately, was the missing piece to go further into the mystery: my second spiritual birth! From that point on, I had found my vocation, and there was no turning back. Mindful self-compassion became a way of life on every level: it saved my life by giving it back its flavour and strength, despite - but also, I later discovered, thanks to - my health problems.

As far as my personal practice is concerned, I'm currently going through my third spiritual birth with a deeper commitment to the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and Frank Ostaseski. Along the way, I have also developed a very strong practice through the portal of poetry.

Among other teachings in other contexts, facilitating for the Palouse community through the lens of my specific training in self-compassion has been an honor and a great gift in my life, confirming the particular power of shared practice, whatever each practitioner's experience: we are all mirrors of each other on the path of meditation, mindfulness and compassion. I look forward to serving you and growing together.

Community does not necessarily mean living face-to-face with others; rather, it means never losing the awareness that we are connected to each other.
     - Parker Palmer

You are whole and also part of larger and larger circles of wholeness you may not even know about.

You are never alone.
And you already belong.
You belong to humanity.
You belong to life.
You belong to this moment, this breath.
     - Jon Kabat-Zinn

When all that we understand of self and world comes together in the center place called heart, we are more likely to find the courage to act humanely on what we know.
     - Parker Palmer

In Louisville, at the corner of Fourth and Walnut, in the center of the shopping district, I was suddenly overwhelmed by the realization that I loved all those people . . . even though we were total strangers. It was like waking from a dream of separateness.
     - Thomas Merton

You are not a drop in the ocean,
You are the entire ocean in a drop.
     - Rumi

We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.
     - Martin Luther King

I would say that there exist a thousand unbreakable links between each of us and everything else, and that our dignity and our changes are one. The farthest star and the mud at our feet are family; and there is no decency or sense in honoring one thing, or a few things, and then closing the list. The pine tree, the leopard, the Platte River, and ourselves – we are at risk together, or we are on our way to a sustainable world together. We are each other’s destiny.
