Chip Burson


The arc of Chip Burson’s career has gone from counselor, therapist, psychiatric social worker, and addiction recovery counselor to executive in medical and behavioral health service systems. He has been a successful entrepreneur and founder/CEO of a publicly traded healthcare and education corporation. Chip is also a published author and former content editor and senior writer for a regional southern literary magazine. He has over a decade of service in research administration at land grant universities and medical school teaching hospitals, including Vanderbilt University and Auburn University.

Chip brings an academic background in biology, psychology, comparative and inter-religion studies and contemplative practice research to his more than 40 years of personal recovery and 35 years’ experience in addiction/recovery treatment and organizational development. He did his academic studies and traing at The University of the South: Sewanee, Vanderbilt University, Auburn University, and the University of London, Warburg Institute.

For the past 25 years Chip has been engaged in academia, research administration, technology transfer, biomedical engineering entrepreneurship, corporate-foundation charitable research funding, consulting, teaching, training, writing and a deep dive into brain/mind/body research. In his consulting practice he has been teaching and training Mindfulness Meditation, MBSR and other mind/body contemplative practices for the benefit and self-care of clinical staff, teams, and management in addiction/recovery and other behavioral health and educational settings.
